Drives and Electronics Expert

We are now looking for a Drives & Electronics Expert, Fan Applications to strengthen our R&D organisation in Denmark.

Multi‑Wing is a global leader in custom‑designed axial fan solutions for HVAC/R and powertrain cooling. For more than 60 years, we have been “shaping airflow for future generations” through innovative modular fan systems that make heating and cooling more efficient, flexible, and quiet. What we do contributes to a safer, healthier planet for future generations.

We are now looking for a Drives & Electronics Expert, Fan Applications to strengthen our R&D organisation in Denmark.

The role

You will be our in‑house expert on motor drives, power electronics, and control hardware used in axial fan systems. Your primary responsibility is to select, evaluate, qualify, and support drive and electronics solutions that deliver the right performance, controllability, efficiency, and robustness for our fan applications.

You will match drive technologies and control architectures to fan system demands, ensure EMC and environmental robustness, and support the full integration of drives and electronics into our products. The role combines deep expertise in motor drives and electronics with a practical understanding of fan applications, system‑level interactions, and demanding field environments.

You will work closely with colleagues in R&D, product management, sourcing, quality, manufacturing, and with global suppliers.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead selection and application engineering of drives and electronics (VFDs, EC controllers, inverters, integrated drives, application‑specific platforms) for axial fan systems.
  • Define requirements for input/output characteristics, control methods, communication interfaces, protection features, thermal limits, environmental resistance, EMC behaviour, and safety functions.
  • Ensure drive solutions are compatible with motor technologies, load profiles, and system operating windows.
  • Define and execute qualification processes for drives and control hardware, including criteria for electrical performance, thermal behaviour, EMC, robustness, reliability, and lifetime.
  • Support laboratory and field validation, reviewing supplier data, test reports, and deviations, and lead root cause analysis when performance or durability expectations are not met.
  • Act as the technical lead in supplier and technology evaluation, reviewing designs, validation data, and production maturity, and supporting sourcing in supplier selection and audits.
  • Support system integration topics such as electrical interfaces, cooling, enclosure constraints, cable routing, grounding, EMC performance, and protection against dust and moisture.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations (EMC, electrical safety, environmental robustness) in our target markets.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation for selection rationale, qualification results, approved solutions, and risk assessments.Share expertise internally and support customer‑facing discussions where drives, controllability, efficiency, or communication interfaces are key topics.

What We're Looking For

Education & experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Power Electronics, or similar.
  • Proven experience with motor drives, power electronics, control hardware, or electronic systems, preferably in HVAC/R, industrial equipment, automotive cooling, pumps, fans, or similar.
  • Experience in drive selection, application engineering, electronics qualification, system integration, or supplier evaluation.
  • Strong understanding of how drives and electronic control systems interact with motors and variable load applications (ideally including fans).
  • Experience with validation, testing, or technical assessment of electronics in real product environments.

Technical skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of motor drive technologies, inverters, electrical protections, thermal limitations, communication interfaces, and system‑level integration challenges.
  • Understanding of control principles and the interaction between motors, drives, electronics, sensors, and load profiles.
  • Good knowledge of EMC‑related design and qualification, electrical robustness, and environmental constraints relevant to industrial fan applications.
  • Ability to critically evaluate supplier data and translate system requirements into drive/electronics specifications and qualification criteria.
  • Experience reading and interpreting test reports, datasheets, compliance documents, and electrical schematics.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards and qualification methods for electrical motors and drives is an advantage.
  • Comfortable with standard engineering tools; experience with motor sizing/simulation and ERP/PLM systems is a plus.

Personal profile

  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and ownership‑driven.
  • Structured and analytical in technical evaluations and decision‑making.
  • Detail‑oriented with a strong focus on quality and reliability.
  • Pragmatic, able to balance functionality, reliability, efficiency, cost, and integration complexity.
  • Strong collaborator and communicator, able to explain complex topics to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Willing to travel as needed for project meetings, testing, and collaboration with global teams.
  • Strong English skills (B2–C1); additional languages are a plus.

What We Offer

  • Be part of a global technology leader in axial fan solutions with a clear sustainability mission.
  • Take a key technical role in defining our future drive and electronics platforms.
  • Work in a cross‑functional, international environment with a high degree of autonomy.
  • See your work directly influence product performance, quality, and customer satisfaction.
