1W Sickle-Shaped Impeller

In order to expand the sickle-shaped series specifically designed for low noise applications, Multi-Wing International a·s has developed the 1W impeller. Wind tunnel testing shows a noise reduction of 2-3dB at the optimal operational point of the 1W impeller, when compared to an airfoil profile. A reduction of 3dB is half the noise.

The noise level is reduced due to the sickle profile, the thin trailing edge and the large pressure capability allowing a lower RPM. Noise calculations on specific impeller selections are available in the Optimiser, which can be downloaded from the website. Please contact your local distributor for username and password.

When leaving the airfoil profile, the difficulty lies in maintaining a high efficiency. However, wind tunnel testing shows efficiency rates up to 64% for the 1W impeller, whereas other low noise impellers rarely exceed efficiencies of 50-55%. The 1W fan blades are designed to have the highest efficiencies in a 3, 4 and 5 bladed hub, in which the impeller reaches a diameter of 986 mm. However, the 1W fan blades can also be used in a 6, 8 and 10 bladed hub.

The 1W fan blades can be supplied in industrial glass reinforced polyamide (PAGI) or anti-static glass reinforced polyamide (PAGAS). Industrial glass-reinforced polyamide provides you with a very cost-efficient, environmentally friendly material that has a better UV constancy than virgin glass reinforced polyamide due to the carbon black in resin.

Anti-static glass reinforced polyamide is the best material for explosion proof working conditions. The fan blades are available for counter-clockwise rotation only, with a fully adjustable pitch from 20° to 50°.

Please contact Multi-Wing International a·s or your local sales office for further information. The 1W impeller is available throughout the worldwide distributor network.
