On September 29th Multi-Wing will release the next generation of its performance analysis and selection software, Multi-Wing Optimiser Version 3. Multi-Wing’s Optimiser software is the cornerstone of the company’s commitment to technical excellence and this new version combines advanced, powerful features with simple and intuitive functionality.

Particular attention has been paid to making this version user friendly, so that even the first time user can get results quickly and easily. This has been achieved by redesigning the user interface, which now features two sections, an ‘Input’ and an ‘Output’ section.

The Input Section
This allows the user to enter the basic data for a selection quickly and easily, however if a detailed technical analysis is required more advanced parameters are readily accessible.

A new ‘Lookup’ section provides easy access to performance data of specific impellers. It can be used to manually fine tune an existing selection by adjusting single or multiple parameters (such as RPM, Diameter, Pitch Angle etc.).

Also included is a ‘Mounting’ section, which uses a graphical interface. This enables the exact mounting requirements of an impeller to be specified. Quotations can also be requested for selected impellers.

Several other innovations have been implemented to make life easier for the user. For example, if no impeller can be found that meets the specific performance required, then the Optimiser 3 will automatically check to see if the performance can be met using different parameters.

The Output Section
This section maintains a list of selected impellers. These can be viewed individually or together for comparison and analysis. Impellers from multiple selections and any input method can be retained within the list.

The list can easily be sorted by any parameter, such as power consumption or efficiency. In addition, a new pricing index has been included for value comparison enabling a selection decision based on economical factors as well as performance.

To suit the new pitch systems of the latest ‘W’ range, the selection routines have been improved to make accurate selections to single degree increments.

Meanwhile, to assist users who want more technical information, the advanced mechanical and acoustic analysis tools and data are contained in a readily accessible and simplified format.

The advance printing forms and export functions of the previous versions of the Multi-Wing Optimiser software are included, as well as new ordering and quotation functions.

Keyboard shortcuts and location specific menus accessed by right clicking the mouse have made all elements of the new Multi-Wing Optimiser more powerful and simpler to use. “The Optimiser software has always been a highly regarded tool,” said Thomas Haderup, Managing Director, Multi-Wing International, “but with this new version our goal was not only to improve the performance but also to make it far easier to operate, whether by a first time user or a technical wizard. Feedback from pre launch tests suggests that we have more than achieved our goal. This new version of the Optimiser software underlines our commitment to technical excellence and customer service,” concluded Haderup.
